A few nights ago, I was worn out (to say the least). That day, it seemed I’d accomplished absolutely nothing, and I was severely unsatisfied and frustrated with myself. Who was I, a mere teenager with big dreams, to think that I could accomplish anything?  Nobody would ever care about my new business. Nobody would ever care about me, period. Part of me knew these thoughts were lies, but without excuse, I let them take over anyway. At nearly eleven, I stumbled into a warm shower, with weary eyes and a tired soul. I didn’t want to fight it anymore.

So, I decided to let Him fight for me.

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. {Psalm 62:5-6, 8}

As the water sprinkled over me, I made a decision. I yelled a name, a name filled with raw, humbling power. With a shaky voice, I proclaimed Jesus as my Savior and in His name, told the devil to flee. Everything shifted. For the first time, I began to sob out of pure joy, and an unstoppable smile spread on my face. Isn’t our God so amazing, that at the mention of His name, His power overwhelms?

I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. {John 16:33}

Dear, when you’re feeling empty, discouraged, or like you’ve simply fallen short of being a “good” Christian, you have an answer. God will give you power. Tell the devil to leave and take his feelings of shame and whispers of emptiness with him. Fight him with the fire of the Holy Ghost, for if God is with us, who can be against us? The Lord Jesus stands right beside you, you need not fear; for He has overcome the world. His power lives in you, the same power that performed miracles, that fights the demons, that overthrew evil. Don’t entertain self-pity. When you’re at your low moments, the devil will knock at the door. At these times, allow your heart to be beating with God’s joy. Clear your mind of sadness, and ask the Lord to help you! He gives you the power to overcome anything! God will help us in times of trouble; all we have to do is ask.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life God has promised to those who love Him. {James 1:12}

We should be excited for trials. We shouldn’t be afraid of hardships, because God watches us every hour. Whenever sadness overwhelms you, whenever troubles come, know that God is right there with you. He may be silent at times, but it’s in these times we learn to trust Him. He will always help us.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. {James 1:2-3}

Sweet one, you have the power to overcome.

With much love,
