Let His love wash over you.
Along with countless others, this phrase is definitely overused. It’s cliché, but I want you to hear it with fresh ears.
Lately, life’s been doing that really cute thing where there’s happy events going on, but it’s also ridiculously stressful. I’ve been so thankful for late-night talks with my best friends, and possible job offers for my beginning business. In the midst of your happiness, though, worry is going to try to take over. What if I can’t do these jobs, what if I fail my next chemistry test, when am I ever going to see these people again?
But when worry starts nagging at the back of your mind, like a small child begging for attention, don’t give in. Overcoming your mind is difficult, but it comes with perseverance. With studying and meditating in God’s words, with making a decision to not let worry get to you, to not let life overwhelm you.
One beautiful thing about Christianity is that when problems leave you hopeless, you pray. It’s that simple. Sincerely praying to the Lord, praising Him, telling Him your heart, asking for His strength, is truly amazing. Let His love wash over you, let it fill every crevice, let His power flow through to the paths of your heart. Be still, and know that He is God. He is powerful; and that Power lives in you.
The power that fills His love is not merely a meek stream, but a crashing wave, pounding against that weight in your chest, washing out again through your veins. Like an ocean wave climbing the rocks, like a gentle lake lapping up against the pebbles, open your heart. Open the gates. Let His love flood your life. Let His power fill every part of your soul.
For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Your burdens overwhelm, but His love overcomes. Your troubles come in, and blow everything out of proportion. His peace sets things back in their place.
Put away your worry. Leave behind those past sins. Run down the path of life, overcoming those hills. Run with your arms thrown wide open, basking in the warmth of His sun, the wind in your hair, and an unstoppable smile on your face. Run with His love pumping through your veins, and empowering your soul. You are His child. His creation. His masterpiece. You are not worthless, for God does not make worthless things. He created you without a flaw, because God does not make mistakes.
You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you. Song of Solomon 4:7
Know who you are.
You are His.
With much love, Jessi
