Becoming: the process of coming to be something or of passing into a state.

Oh, how I long to become the young woman that God wants me to be. I want to be quiet. Meek. Modest. Bold. And I want to love Him with my whole heartBut honestly? I wake up, and I mess up every single day.

However. I realized something last night. I realized that I’m waiting for the perfect place to be a young woman of God. I’m waiting for just the right time, where my life is in order, when every moment of my day is planned and organized. I’m waiting to get my life together before I follow Him whole-heartedly. I’m waiting until I can keep my days under control. I’m waiting until I can keep my life under control, before I begin to trust in Him

 But shouldn’t we be content where God has placed us, to work and grow where He puts us? My sisters, we should be the women that God wants us to be right where we are. We must fall recklessly in love with Jesus, and trust that He can ease the burden of life, not ourselves. For we are unable to fix our lives, to ease the stress, all on our own. But our Lord can.

We don’t need a perfect life, we need faith. Faith that keeps us going, faith that tells us to work where we are. Faith that God will give us the strength. Faith that He will guide us.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. {Psalm 32:8}

I used to have the habit of sticking with my feelings. I listened to them, I was affected by the “feelings” all around me. The constant pressure to do better, be better, fix everything, all by myself. But you can’t put faith in feelings. You must have faith in God, in His plan, in His timing. You can’t put faith in feelings. Why? Because faith isn’t a feeling, faith is a mindset. It’s not the sand being swept about by the ocean, it’s the unmoving cliffs by the sea.

I’ve asked God countless times to give me the strength, to show me the next step. I’ve realized I can’t change in a day, it’s all about little steps. Every day, it’s all about resisting ourselves and walk in the way God instructs us to go. Every day we have choices to make, choices about our reactions, choices about spending our time wisely, choices about how we want to be. Every choice can bring us closer, or farther from His will.

 Seek the Lord and His strength. Seek His face continually. {1 Chronicles 16:11}

The goal is to live for Him. To trust in HimI want to be satisfied with where God has put me. I want to give up my life to God and say, “Lord, only you can ease this burden.” I want to become the woman He’s created me to be.

I want to choose to give my life to Him; to trust that He will guide my steps to becoming who He has destined me to be.

Sisters, let us all choose to become women living for Christ.

Much love,

  1. Jessi, I see you living out 1 Timothy 4:12 and my heart overflows. Remember 2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we live by faith, not by sight. Faith is, as Hebrews 11:1 says, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. My prayer for you is Ephesians 3:14-21. Blessings, sweet girl!
